Adapting Channel Tunnel terminals to European Border controls
A project co-funded by the European Union’s Brexit Adjustment Reserve.
On January 1st 2021, the withdrawal of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland from the European Union took full effect, resulting in the re-establishment of an external border of the European Union across the Straits of Pas-de-Calais.
The European Union has created a dedicated fund, the “Brexit Adjustment Reserve”.
This fund covers part of the new infrastructure needed to facilitate border controls between France and the United Kingdom.
The developments financed mainly concern the creation of an HGV park and infrastructure at the Channel Tunnel terminals to carry out the checks now required at the border between the UK and France.
