Guidance on share security

Be aware of share fraud and ‘boiler room’ scams

Many companies have become aware that their shareholders have received unsolicited phone calls or correspondence concerning investment matters which imply a connection to the company concerned.

These communications are typically from overseas-based ‘brokers’ who are very persuasive and extremely persistent, with professional websites to support their activities.

Such communications are not endorsed by Getlink as the company does not participate in such unsolicited communication programmes.

These communications should be treated as scams and should be reported to the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) so that they can investigate.

You are able to do this either online at the FCA's website or by calling them on 0800 111 6768 (freephone) or 0300 500 8082 from the UK, or +44 207 066 1000 from abroad.

5,000 people contact the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) each year, with victims losing an average of £20,000. It is not just the novice investor that has been duped in this way; many of the victims had been successfully investing for several years. Shareholders are advised to be very wary of any unsolicited advice, offers to buy shares at a discount or offers of free reports into the company.

If you do receive telephone calls, emails, letters from Getlink or from companies endorsed by Getlink or its subsidiaries and you are unsure if they are legitimate, please contact our Shareholder Relations Centre team for clarification on 0845 600 6634 or by email
